  2. Search for a keyword (e.g. "botox near me")

When to use it

Pitching a new client and need to position their business against the top-rated competitors in their area

Justifying why review generation, local citations, or Google Business optimization is necessary

Identifying whether a business is truly competitive for a service-related keyword

Preparing for quarterly performance reviews or business development check-ins

Reviewing how saturated or open a local market is for entry or expansion

For Marketing & Agency Use

Use case: An agency was preparing a proposal for a new med spa client in Southington, CT. The client was interested in ranking for “botox near me,” but had only 30 reviews and a 4.3 star rating. Using the Marketplace Overview Report, the agency discovered the average competitor had over 140 reviews and most had 4.9+ ratings.

With this data, they created a simple one-sheet showing:

  • Where the client ranked in comparison
  • How many reviews were needed to break into the top 3
  • How to raise their average rating with a follow-up email strategy

The report helped the agency close the deal in a single call, with a 90-day review campaign and a clear KPI framework.

Frequently asked questions

  • Where does the review data come from?

SplashDash pulls from publicly available business listings on platforms like Google Maps, using your keyword and location to compile real-time competitor data.

  • How are businesses ranked in this report?

Businesses are ranked based on a combination of review count and star rating, weighted toward relevance and recency.

  • Can I search for any keyword or industry?

Yes. You can input service-based keywords relevant to your client (e.g., “roofing,” “medspa,” “landscaping”) and select any U.S. location.

  • Can I compare my client to these competitors directly?

While this version focuses on a market overview, you can easily identify where your client falls on the list—or use their review metrics to run a comparison manually.

Absolutely. The report highlights how many more reviews are needed to compete—and what the average star rating is—so you can build clear ROI around review efforts.

  • Can I show this to my client?

Yes. It’s designed to be client-friendly and highly visual. It’s great for presentations, audits, and onboarding documents.

We recommend running it before a campaign, during prospecting, and at least quarterly to assess progress in local reputation and visibility.

  • Does this report track only Google reviews?
